Happy Socktober! The unofficial sock celebration month! You can celebrate by wearing mis-matched socks. Also called Opposocks! Go ahead an trademark that one.
Back on the gelatin front, Halloween is coming up and it's time to create and recreate some shots. These are the candy corn shots I made last Halloween but this time I used the pyramid molds for a more authentic candy corn look.
The key to these shots is the candy corn infused vodka.
Candy Corn Jello Shots
White layer
1 cup1 water
2 envelopes Knox unflavored gelatin
3 Tbs of sweetened condensed milk (or more to taste)
1/2 cup white candy corn infused vodka
1/2 cup Triple sec or if you're feeling crazy a clear or white butter rum!
Orange layer
1 3oz box orange gelatin
1 envelope Knox unflavored gelatin
1 cup water
1/2 cup orange candy corn infused vodka
1/2 cup candy corn infused triple sec
Yellow layer
1 3oz box lemon gelatin
1 envelope Knox unflavored gelatin
1 cup water
1/2 cup yellow candy corn infused vodka
1/2 cup candy corn infused triple sec
To make Candy corn infused vodka, get three plastic containers with lids. Measure out 1/2 cup (4oz, 118mL for our metric friends) of vodka into a plastic container that can be sealed with a lid. cut the candy corns into their individual colors and add the the alcohol. Cover and let it infuse for two hours.
Strain the vodka of any remaining clumps by using a coffee filter or paper towel. Place the filter over an empty container and gently pour the vodka over it.
As always with layering gelatin, prepare every gel ahead of time. Place the pan or molds into the freezer for ten minutes before pouring, this will help speed up the process. Just before pouring, take out the pan pour the first layer and place in fridge. Check on it in five minutes and frequently from then on. You want the gelatin to be tacky but not solid. If the layer gets solid they separate when you unmold. Pour the second layer, this will set more quickly. Then the final layer.
